Three weeks, three different winners in the Stock Car and Hobby Stock divisions at The Hamilton County Speedway.

By: Ryan Bergeson

Cloudy skies and windy conditions does not keep the race teams and fans away from the Hamilton County Speedway this Saturday night. Threats of rain all afternoon and evening were able to hold off long enough to allow the racing program to be concluded on night #3. Special thanks to Nelson Auto Sales for providing the Feature Winner Trophies.

We would start the racing on night #3 with a 3-peat. Jena Barthelmus would once again take her 48J machine to the front and not look back. Barthelmus has won every IMCA Sport Compact feature since the start of the season. Tyler Pickett would follow her to the checkered flag.

The Performance Electric Hobby Stocks were next on the speedway for their 12-lap feature event. This race would go down to the wire as Justin Ades, Brandon Toftee, and Travis Prochaska would all battle for the top spot. Brandon Toftee would lead early on until Travis Prochaska woud go around him on the outside on lap 7. Just as Prochaska would take credit for lap 7, a caution would come out to realign the field. Prochaska would bring them single file off of turn four on the restart and Toftee was able to jam the foot on the gas and race him by the starter stand on the front shoot. Toftee would once again regain the lead off of turn 2. Prochaska would take a look to the outside of Toftee in turn 3 but Toftee was able to slam the door and hold on to grab his feature win of the season. Justin Ades, Travis Prochaska, and Jamie Odor would round out the top four.

The Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Cars were next on the speedway for their 15 lap feature event. Scott Bloemke would thread the needle on the first lap and grab the lead on the back shoot to take credit for lap 1. Bloemke would continue to run the top side of the speedway as Mitchell Griffith moved up to challenge on his inside through the turns. Griffith was able to take the lead away as Bloemke, Curt Hook, and Todd Foster would give chase. Griffith would be able to hold on to pick up his first feature win of the season as Todd Foster made a great move to finish in the second spot. Foster, Bloemke, and Jason Wagoner would round out the top four.

The Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were next on the speedway and once again, there would be another new face in Victory Lane. Andy Tiernan would grab the race lead early as he was followed by Brett Moffitt. Moffitt was finally able to make the pass on Tiernan and grab the lead on lap 3. Moffitt was able to hold on to the the race lead throughout and coast his way to Pepsi Cola Victory Lane. Matt Northrop was able to work from deep in the field to pick up the second spot followed by Tiernan, and Bugs Vincent.

The Modified division would once again keep the streak alive as Victory Lane was visited by another new winner on night #3. Ryan Giles and Mark Elliott would go wheel to wheel right from the start until Mark Elliott would make the pass and lead on the front stretch. Giles would race the bottom line of the speedway and try one more time to take the lead on Elliott but Ryan Ruter would shoot the gap and take the second spot away. Giles and Scott Olson would race for several laps side by side for the third spot as Ryan Ruter moved up to challenge Elliott for first. Finally, Ruter would power up the triple nickel and take the lead away. Elliott would try to change his line for several laps to run down Ruter but he would be out of time. Ruter would go on to take the win followed by Elliott, Scott Olson, and Ryan Giles.

The final race of the night would be The Motor Inn of Webster City IMCA Late Models. Just like the week before, Craig Jacobs would grab the lead right from the start hoping for a different outcome on this night. Nick Housemann and Ryan Griffith would secure the second and third spots respectively as Jason Hahne went back and forth with Darrel DeFrance for fourth. Finally, on lap 19, Craig Jacobs probably was thinking he was seeing déjà vu. A week ago Jacobs was out to a huge lead only to see a late race caution and this night was no different. Jacobs would relinquish his huge lead again putting some heavy hitters on his back bumper. Jacobs would lead the car off of turn four to the restart and this time, there was no one going to take it from him. Jacobs would lead all 25 laps in a well deserved effort that lead him straight to the Hamilton County Speedway victory Lane. Housemann, Griffith, and Jason Hahne would round out the top four.
