Night Number Twelve at the Hamilton County Speedway

This Saturday night in Webster City was the twelfth night of racing of the 2010 racing season. The racing action was sponsored by D & B Agro Systems.
The night was started off with Adam Strunk picking up the win in the Hornet division. Strunk led all eight laps on the way to his seventh win of the season. Dan Ayers and Nick Hogan finished in the top three.
The next race of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. After a long layoff from the speedway, Robert Dilley quickly shook off the rust and motored passed the field to pick up the feature win. Al Dixon followed him to the checkered flag in second, Craig Graham finished third, and Ryan darling rounded out the top four.
The Conleys Trucking Sport Mods were next on the speedway. Brandon Toftee stole the show from the drop of the green flag until a caution bunched the field at the half way point in the race. Bob Sutherland took full advantage of the restart and powered passed Toftee for the lead. Sutherland would pick up the win followed by Rocky Caudle, Brandon Toftee, and Duane Van Deest.
The Tony’s Tire Stock Car feature took center stage with Ryan Leeman as the early race leader. Leeman continued to lead until Reid Keller passed him with seven laps to go. Mark Elliott would challenge Keller through the turns but Keller was too strong on this night. Keller picked up the win followed by Mark Elliott and Mike Van Genderen.
The George White Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature was dominated by Mark Elliott. Elliott grabbed the lead on the first lap of the race and would not look back on the way to the feature win. Todd Shute put on a good show coming from deep in the field to finish second, David Brown finished third, and Tyler Prochaska finished in the fourth position.
The final race of the night was the Motor Inn of Webster City IMCA Late Model Feature. Jason Vansickel led the race for the first five laps until Jeff Aikey stole the lead away. Aikey hammered the throttle and blew past Vansickel in turn two and charged to the feature win. Kelly Tapper worked through the field and finished in second followed by Todd Cooney and Jason Hahne.
This Saturday night in Webster City was just a tune up for what is to come this coming Thursday night. The 5th Annual Thursday Night Thunder returns to the historic half mile on Thursday, July 22 as five classes of cars compete for a $1,000 paycheck. Hot Laps on Thursday night begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. |
